New JDM Type C-F Celsior
Hi Guys
Just bought this pearl white 1990 Toyota Celsior (aka LS400) with 100,000 Km's.
The car is loaded, almost like an Ultra Package. Has everything including heated massager, elect reclining rear seat with audio/aircon controls in rear armeest!!! Has a TV too!!!
You'll probably dislike the wheels, they are 17 x 8 AME's. When funds permit, I'll upgrade.
The body kit is a Junction Produce I think? Any ideas?
Regards

PSLS400,
Not bad for a 1990! Are all electrical features in good working order? The 1990 models are notorius for a blackened climate control unit and dash problems. The Km is reasonable considering the year. I have a 1990 Celsior as well. I'm trying to get service manuals (in english) and find a stock radio system to replace my defective unit. I've also been looking on Okinawa, Japan for a Pioneer repair shop. Where are you located?

psls400,
Would the manual be a Celsior manual? I'm headed to the US this Sunday (Texas). I was going to hunt for a "Lexus" manual and some other miscellaneous parts. However, I prefer an english Celsior manual. Please let me know what you can dig up.

Where you at? Sydney, Melbourne?
I've notice a lot of the Celsiors for sale lately, don't know what it is. Have it thoroughly checked out mechanically as lots of these grey imports have been thrashed or crashed.
I noticed that the steering is heaps lighter in JDM Celisors compared to Australian Delivery LS400s; what do you think?

I am in Canberra.
The reason there are so many now is that the govt is about to shut down the 15 year import rule and because cars like these are such a threat and excellent value for money.
For the money what would you prefer a used Holden Commodore or Lexus???
Mine has original km's with history so shouldn't be a problem. All the Jap import celsiors I've seen are in far better condition than Australian equivalents.
Cheers
Pat

You guys will be amazed at these cars. Just got mine on the road ( 90 Celsior UL pack ) and took it on a trip away. Totalled about 1000 km. We were loaded up with wife, 2 kids and bootful of gear but just set the cruise at 100kph and STILL got 26 - 27 mpg. Very comfortable, quiet smooth but a little kickback through the steering. Oh and got pulled for speeding too before I went with the cruise control . Anyone with any ideas what might cause the steering kickback? Would appreciate feedback. Cheers

Yeah the massage function is divine. Pity its in the rear only. Suppose thats better than falling asleep driving though! No bodykit on mine just stock. Needs some tidying on the paint but will get some pics up asap.
