Default My Dash just started cracking today. HELP

On my 1991 LS. Any suggestions on how to stop the crack from getting bigger? I just noticed it today and its about 7 inches long.

my 1990 ES250 has the same issue. fill it with some black epoxy to keep it from spreading. or take it to an upholstery/vinyl shop to get it repaired. the problem with repairs is they can be just as expensive as a new dash.

give it some tint and get the dash cover, that will help alot. Also keep away from direct sunlight.

If you plan on keping the car long-term, get a new dash. At 15 years, some of the parts start to become scarace. I called all over the Pacific region trying to find a non-cracked one for my Celica...I could have bought one from the dealer about 3-4 years back but now they are long gone.

By the time the vinyl has cracked it is too late. After the shock of having a dash severely crack after about 8 years on the first Mercedes that I bought new (my baby!), the first thing we do now when we buy a new or off-lease car is to by a high quality windsheld sun shade and have the side windows tinted slightly. I put up the sunshade religiously even on cloudy days and in the winter. Because of this care, the dash on my 90 LS was like new when I sold it after almost 14 years. Even when buying a very used car, using a sunshade and tinting the side windows will stop further deterioration of a dash and other interior materials such as the steering wheel leather.
