Paint or not
I have a 98 LS, dark blue. I've only had it for about a year and a half but really like this car. I have had 5 Lexus', 3 new and 2 used, this one is my favorite. The only problem I have is what to do with it. I either will keep it for 2 more years, than try to find a LS430 or put some $ into this one, since it only has 102K miles on it.
I am thinking of having it painted, plus it could use some new wheels (curb rash, etc.) It has some small rock chips on the hood, right over the grill. I don't know if I should have just the hood painted to repair this or the whole car. I'm afraid that the paint will never be as good as the original and I will regret the decision. Any thoughts would be helpful. I have talked to the Lexus dealer and they have a paint shop to recommend.
Thanks for your help.

I would strongly suggest that you leave painting the entire car is the lassssssssssssst resort. You can search for another hood maybe. But remember that its not easy selling a repainted car, because it raises much suspicion. If the rock chips on the hood are the only problem, how about just repainting the hood? Or filling in the chips with a color coded pen made for your exact color.
As I said, exhaust all other choices before repainting, espcially if the car had no prior body work.
