enginer won't go over 4000 rpm

Could the ECU have switched itself to "safe mode"?
I remember years ago a friend of mine's 92 LS4 switched itself to safe mode and he had to drive around at very low speeds until the thing was serviced.

200$?
If I could, I would track the car
So if I take off the front portion of the air intake, the car won't mess up in the rain?

yesss!!! thought my driveline was bounding up some how, because around 5k rpm it would hesitate and not want to accel anymore but it would rev freely in P or N.Took the airbox cap off and now revs like a **** so i guess i have to track down the problem through the intake. THANKS sniper (if you're still on here)

My 98 does this. Seems like I don't get much power at higher RPM. Will not rev past 4000. Still cruising on the highway just fine but my 97 feels like it pulls way harder.
