Rewiring your fogs in 95 LS400

Well, I did this on a 95 without HIDs, so not sure how it converts on a 98-00 with HIDs.
When you dropped the relay and hooked up the four wires to the original locations did the fog lights still work? At that point you wouldn;t have changed any wiring, just extended it to the relay. It SHOULD still work there, if not them something went wrong at the beginning.

When I extended it at first, it worked just fine. Then when I changed the green wire, things started going wrong, like only one side of the HID's would work, and fogs wouldnt come one with HID's at ALL, it was like a either or situation. I tried ALL kinds of wires, I was working on this for over 6 hours, but no go
I wonder what could be the difference?
Then I looked at this tutorial from a 98 GS, seems a little more involved, but im wondering if that’s the only way to do it on 98+ w/HID's:

Hmmm..... ya know, without a better step-by-step description of what was attempted and what happened each time I can't really be that much help.
It IS possible that the relay was rewired for 98-00 cars, I will see if someone locally with an HID-equipped LS will let me get into the wiring.

Well see, when I used the hot wire from tail light fuse, they would turn on when my parking lights are on, but off again when the HID's are on. But when the HID’s turned on, the tail lights turned off as well.
When I used a constant hot wire, (windshield wipers) they were on anytime the ignition was set to ON, regardless of what position the stalk was in. Then again they go off when HID's go on.
In all instances, they actual fog light stalk would not control them, they were constantly on, even if they fog light switch was set to off.
Then when the green wire wasnt connected to anything, not only were the foglights not operational, but only ONE of the HID's would work.
I tried to tap into a wire instead of a fuse, but the results where the same.
I guess Lexus tried thier best to make sure someone wouldnt turn on fog lights without the headlights. But Im going to try and make it work, any suggestions would be very helpful.

Yes, you can... the wire at the relay that comes from the OEM switch could be removed and you could wire it to any switch you wanted... just ground the other side of the switch.

i will replace it eventually, but right now, i could use the $60 elsewhere(trying to hardwire iPod to OEM Nak Stereo.)

Sorry, but this topic will only apply to 1995-1997 LS400s, and possibly 1998-2000. The car was redesigned in 1995 so nothing before that will be applicable.
