Default carrier bushing Help!!!

Hi Everyone,
First i wanted to pass on some information, I found a place in kentucky that sell the carrier for the LS400. I ordered the carrier and strut rod bushing for $43.00 per side (carrier& rod bushing). I decided to wait untill I got them to see if everything worked out before I would pass the info to the board members . Well they shipped them right out and I attempted to install them today . My son was helping me or I should say I was helping him, he got the old bushing easily because it was shoot but the new bushing would not fit in the carrier, it seems to big ? Does the carrier have a sleeve that has to come out or what ? The part # is adus 505 for the carrier bushing which is suppose to be the correct part and it is a 2 piece bushing. I called the company and of course they said it's the right part. I hope someone can give me some advice or point out what I'm doing wrong. The bushing measures 38mm across. I didn't measure the carrier opening but the bushing seems to be just a bit larger . My Ls is a 94.

I need help
Thanks
Jansen

My mechanic fitted the Adus 505 bushes into my 92 LS400 for me, and he had no problems.

Default carrier bushings...

I was in the same situation. I also puchased the same products and watched a friend of mine (who is also a lexus mechanic) install them in his garage. And I do remember him removing the inner sleeve from the carrier(he used some sort of air gun that had a flat head tip and worked like a small jackhammer which help slides right out - no damage @ all to the carrier and it took literally about 10 secs on each side!) and he noted that inner sleeve was not really necessary, just as long you lubricate it real well. From there it fit like a glove. This whole install took no longer than 20 mins. So easy to do if you have the right set of tools. It has been about 3 months, so far it runs as smooth as silk. Just recently I check the condition of the bushings and they still look brand new. So hope this helps and let me know the turn out. From there you should be good to go!

Thanks for your reply Darkside, I had just found some additional info on the Lexusxowners website regarding the inner sleeve and they posted a few pic also. I was ready to take it Toyota or a local shop and who knows what they would charge ? I'm going to rent a bushing removal tool from Autozone hopefully that will do the trick,
Thanks again

Can you let me know where in Kentucky you got the bushings? I'm interested in buying some too. I have a 95.

thanks

Question

I just had the driver's side bushing installed today, if was a pain for the mechanic but he finally got it installed, the ride is a bit firmer in the rear. I've seen on other posts that once the old bushing was removed you grease up the new one and they slide right in well this wasn't the for me. I called the company and they said they were the correct parts. I still have an unused set of bushings left (1) carrier and (1) strut rod bushing. The bushing on the passenger side was the strut rod bushing modified by the mechanic to fit the carrier but I took to a different shop today and he was able to make the carrier bushing work after a little modification.

Sorry for rambling on , www.foreignautosalvage.com is the site where you can purchase them from for $43.00 for both bushings.
