Bra for LS400? Anyone have one?
I keep thinking about getting a bra for my 1st gen LS400. Why? I dunno. I have some mild front end damage that I want to cover up. Plus I don't know what it would look like. Colgen makes one with a grill cover and one without. Has anyone seen one on an LS? I'm looking for pics. Am I just stupid for wanting to find out? I also want/need a roof rack but haven't been able to find one. Need it to haul bikes and skis. Will a bra make the car look dorky????

I would be interested in knowing of a good front-end bra for my '04 LS as well. The highway trip to visit family 4 hours away every month or 2 has left many small chips in the front-end...Any information is appreciated.

I have never seen a need for a bra on my LS 400 (1993). The vertical heighth of the grill seems to lessen the paint damage from flying rocks and other debris.
My wife's ES 300 (1994) is another matter completely. The small grill area and downward slope of the hood make for a lot of hits on the front part of the hood. There are far more impact craters on her car than on mine.
I can't really speak about the LS 400's of other years. My opinion is that the slope of the hood is the critical matter.

On extremely long trips of several hundred miles I use a bra which covers my grill and approximately four inches of my hood. Does a good job of preventing chips and keeping all the bugs off my radiator. I have it a few years and paid approximately $40.00 for it.
Here is a close up shot of it.

I'd recommend getting a transparent bra. I think about 3 companies make them. I'm using the Xpel product, and got it on my Mercedes about 2 weeks ago. My 2001 LS-430 is having it installed this week. For more info, you can check out: http://www.xpel.com/products/default.asp
According to the web site, it is available for the 2004 LS-430.

In my opinion it only pays to have a product like 3M Xpel applied is when the car has no stone chips/damage at all, when it's brand new or just after having it repainted. Just make sure the new paint is completely adhered/dried before applying the Xpel. If you have quite a few chips already then go with a bra until you decide if or when to have the front end resprayed.

Actually, I used to have a Wolf bra on my '96 LS. It fit horribly, and the hooks were never placed anywhere near a hole to hook them in. By comparison, I have Genuine Toyota bras for my '93 Corolla and '97 Avalon, and they fit like a second skin.
And by the way, the Wolf bra went into the trash long ago... I'll post the few pics I have of it up in a little while.
