hate to revive an old thread but everyone will want to know the answer to this:

What is the part number to the tool that replaces the tensioner on the seatbelt?

and

What is the part number for the Seatbelt tensioner that needs to be replaced?

Honda covers all seat belts for the lifetime of the car.

My friend has a 1989 Honda Prelude that he paid $1,000. Long story short, the driver side seatbelt stopped working. He took it to the Honda dealership expecting to buy an entirely new assembly and instead they fixed everything under warranty.

He was shocked. He had a warranty claim on a 1989 Prelude that only cost $1,000.

Mine are slow also on my 98 . So i pulled the belt out and washed it with tide and water and used a mr clean magic eraser . I also cleaned the upper anchor as it fills with dirt and acts as sandpaper keeping it from pulling back. Once cleaned i added some silicone lube and it worked great for a year . I need to clean it better this time.

I was worried about the same thing because my car has 170k, but Lexus agreed to pay for the parts ($600+tax) but I have to pay for labor ($300).

I got a seatbelt from across the border in SC for about $70.
Works great..... a little age on it but it buys me more time.

I had them test the seatbelt first too.
(there is a PDF on the CD manual on how to test the lock/retract - pretty simple actually. You just tilt it and it should lock)

Also this was probably one of the easiest installs I ever did.

Later!

I have been avoiding replacing my seat belt until this past week I broke the plastic peace of the buckle off while shutting the door since it didn't retract.

Sounds like the dealership or a junk yard are my only options to get my retractor replaced!!! I don't like either option.

Seriously, has anyone found an aftermarket one or a good re-seller that has a replicator for the driver side. If so please enlighten me.

The retractor by itself? Prolly. I recently (December) bought the whole assembly from Carson Toyota (front passenger).

According to this thread, the warranty is 100,000 miles.
