Default How the Tire Pressure Monitor Works

I had an occurance about a month ago where the Tire Pressure monitor light came on while driving in snow. I asked my Service Manager about the system and he told me on the LEXUS it works by comparing the tire rotation between tires and if it detects a noticible difference between two wheels that is what turns on the sensor.

So it really doesn't know that a tire is low, only that one is rotatingmore than another.
