2nd Gen Seat Material Options
Greetings all. Currently looking to upgrade to a facelifted 2nd gen LS400 from my 2nd gen base model Avalon.
One of the things I like about the lack of options on my Avalon are the seats; they are the base velour seats; not leather. Never personally been a fan of leather, always preferred a material that could breathe. Doing some research, I see the first gen LS400 had cloth on the base models, but the vast majority of sales had the leather seat options.
Is the same true for the 2nd gens, or was leather all that was available? I know the Japanese market Toyotas like the Centurys had wool seats, was wool available on the 2nd gen Celsiors?
Thanks in advance.

Cloth is extremely rare in this car. AFAIK, cloth is never an available option in US-spec 2nd generation LS400's. The cutoff was sometime in the first couple years of the 1st gen car. However, I believe it was continued to be offered in international spec Toyota Celsiors. Whether this made it into UCF20\21 cars, I don't know. How prevalent they are, I don't know. Additionally, it was not the same as the wool used in the Century. & Finally, I have no idea whether the seats will even fit in an Avalon.

the 2nd gen Celsiors UCF20s do come with wool seats. I've yet to experience or see one in person but from what I can see, they look like they're a good wearing, and very comfortable material to sit on all while keeping the same suspension front seat design that makes the US LS400s so comfy on long drives.

For any future searchers, wanted to post pictures from a Facebook Marketplace ad for a 1998 Celsior that recently popped up near me; they do exist!:

If my memory is correct, cloth was available for USDM LS 400s for 1990 and 1991 only. After that, leather was the only material available. If you want cloth seats in a 2nd gen LS, you'll have to get a Celsior as others mentioned or swap the interiors unfortunately.
