Default Drivers window replacement.

So this winter, my driver's window was apparently frozen shut, and as a result as I tried to open it the little plastic tray/window holder the window sits in, and that is attached to the window regulator, broke into three pieces. Can I just replace that plastic tray, or do I have to buy a whole new window with it attached ? That seems asinine to me but I'm afraid that may be what has to be done. Or am I wrong ?

It sounds like you have a 1995-2000 LS 400. Is that correct?

And it seems that you broke the plastic door channel guide clips adhered to the bottom of the glass.

Unfortunately, you cannot buy this individually. Your only options are to buy a new window or to try using aftermarket guide clips that would allow you to connect the regulator in the same positions and would not interfere with the operation of the window.

You can try searching Ebay, or LS400 part outs. You can find postings for part outs on facebook marketplace. Also scrap yards. Also also car-parts.com.
Good luck

Yes, it's a 1995. Do they make aftermarket clips for this car and particular situation ? Or would I have to rectal fit ( pun intended) a generic clip ? I have found some windows on ebay but I wanted to make sure that was my only option before I bought one. Thanks for the replies!

So is the window on the 98-00 the same as 95-97 ? I'm seeing some ebay listing that say the window will fit 95-00, and some that don't list all those years .

According to Lexus, the left front window for 1995-1997 only will fit your car:
https://www.lexusoeparts.com/oem-par...Y4LWdhcw%3D%3D

I cannot find photos of 1995-1997 front windows online, but I can find 1998-2000. So I can't confirm what the changes to the part were sadly

One thing to note - make sure to match the tint of the glass with your car, or it will look weird. It seems that there are 2 colors - gray and green. This was dependent on the interior/exterior color combination of your car.

The easiest way to tell is to put a piece of paper behind your glass and shine a white light over the window (like your phone flash led) so you can see the color.

There are a variety of generic clips made, such as this one:
https://www.amazon.in/Generic-Window.../dp/B071LPSQ1H

But you would have to determine the dimensions of the existing clips on your window, and figure out how to adhere these generics in the same way so that the window regulator connects to the glass in the same exact positions with the new clips as it would have with the original clips.

This is a much harder DIY task with more room for error and would be at your own risk.

It would be significantly easier to get a new window.

I should mention - the reason this clip broke on your window is because:
1) the plastic is old
2) the plastic is held on with an adhesive to the window and is not meant to be removed. You would need to heat it up first and slowly work the adhesive off the clip and window to get it out if you wanted to remove it. Likely the problem with your window stuck was not this part.

Looks like I'll just be ordering a window. I'll call around to some local yards next week, or get one off of eBay. Thank you !
