Here's the SMD prototype. Works like a charm. I used 5 MORE smd's than the factory needle so it is really bright when lit, but it would only photograph as a blur from the intensity. so here's a close up of it turned off so you can get a good view. 2 shots.

i got a pic while lit just a second ago.
they have to be spaced in pairs of 2 or they will overheat. there are no dropouts when behind the needle. this is a half rack, there are twice as many on just the SMALL needle's.
