00 GS400 tail lights completely out
I just purchased 00 GS 400, love the car. Everything was working perfect up until yesterday. My tail lights and side lights completely out. I checked fuses and changed lamp failure sensor (purchased at salvage yard). I can't seem to figure this out. I did not a black box/ harness mounted in trunk that is plugged to lights. It is melted pretty bad. Not sure what this box is called so I can replace to see if this is the problem. Any suggestions? This is my first lexus ever! Please, any information is helpful. I am new to this forum.

I finally figured out to change fuse and just unplug the box. I noticed every time I change fuse and box was still plug, it fry fuse. They are LED aftermarket but my task is to find the replacement for this hid ballast I believe. I am new to LED lights, so I am sorry if I am wrong on title to the black box. I search AutoZone and o'relieys but they don't sell this item. Where do I start?

I would assume that that is the controller or resistor of the LED tail lights. If so, I would guess that you'll either have to buy a whole new set of tail lights if those can't be purchased alone.

Thank you for your help!! I noticed there is two to each side. I believe it is the resistor because I unplugged it from the box below which is the controller. My question is, how do I purchase the set and where? I noticed today the indicator came on dash board. All lights work but from what I read. The resistors is important. Is the a brand that I need for these lights? Smh.. Truly nice car but I don't know anything regarding the lights. You man do a wonderful job altering your toys. I am a mother in my forty's not interested in LED lights. Thank you for help and information you give.

Wow.. I would really have to purchase a new set for this one resistor being no good? Can I buy a set of resistors instead of new lights? The lights work fine, it's just this one resistor.

From what I researched online, they don't sell the resistor alone without the LED tail lights. If you're not really interested in the LED tail lights, and can't find the resistor, I would recommend putting up a trade thread in the classifieds section and find somebody who is willing to trade with the correct year OEM tail lights. That would be more reliable and an easier fix if I'm not mistaken.
