"De-Lining" Headlights!
Hello everyone, one of the only things that I really didn't like about the SC was the headlights. The lines to me just made the front end look different. So when I took mine apart to clean them I said what the hell might as well try to sand out the lines.
Well let me warn everyone before they go do this it is NOT easy, it is a painstaking process that if you want it done right you have to put the time into it. I am not even done with sanding the ridges down yet. I have been using 40 grit sand paper and am going to move up and wet sand eventually. I will have a complete right up with all the steps when I am done with pictues, until then.. here is what one of them looks like right now. http://rise.gamester.net/headlight%2...headlight1.JPG http://rise.gamester.net/headlight%2...headlight2.JPG |
Interesting idea. Will certainly make for a clean appearance. Your ride is already very clean looking, but of course its the details that separate the men from the boys. Looks like tedious work. Be sure to post pix of the finished product. Hope it turns out how you like it.

Wow looks like an awesome project. Cant wait to see the finished product.
Are you sure it wont weaken the structure too much that it will break if a rock or somethign hits it? |
Hey the best part is yet to come. I accidentally scratched up my headlight lens trying to clear them out, and i then had to buff out all the scratches, note: not easy to get in the tight spots, let me know how it turned out.:eek2:

two words: Dremel Tool.

i have already done this mod. it took me 1 whole day just to do the passenger side. it has taken soo long and such hard work i haven't even worked on my driver side yet. A dremel tool won't work because of the angle the dremel tool has to go in. there just isn't enough space to use a dremel. Also i haven't tried tried any other product than this one called "blue magic, plexiglass cleaner and light scratch remover." it seems to get the fine scratches out pretty good. i used 100, 1000,1500,then 2000 grit sand paper. it takes soo much work man. good luck. |
Jmai22 i have a dremel snake that goes places a normal dremel could never go. it attaches to the top and extends a flexible cord 2 ft inot a rotating bit. gets in places really well i'd never get into normally.
|
i tried using a special dremel too. the machine part you hang up and the part that spins is as big as a pencil conencted to like a 2 foot cord. the reason why it doesn't work is because if the space and the direction the tip of the dremel spins. maybe we are talking about 2 diferrent thing. post a pic of your up and i'll try to find a pix of mine too.

geez, finding that thing in my tool closet.... :egads: now your asking for a miracle...lol. sounds like we are on the level of similar items. you da man, i've never done it personally. i'll take the 5th on this one ;)

I don't know too much about this but doesn't it scratch the glass? or how do you prevent the glass from getting scratched?
