I am almost done with one of them, there is still some really fine scratches that you can see in the sun or if you are up close. I would have updated everyone sooner but my Digi cam took a crap and won't turn on    $500 piece of crap.. anyway..

EDIT: OK, my camera decided to work.. here are the pics, as you can see they still need to be buffed a little more, but most of the scratches should come out. enjoy.

Ooooh...
Looks awsome so far.
Can't wait to see the finished product.

It'd be extremely nice if you could paint the inside with matching paint..
no plan of that?

WOW, great looking lights
how long it take you to finsish both of them.

they should have come that way from the factory :)

Jmai22 04-27-03 10:12 PM

wow that looks great. i was wondering if its white as new or if its a little greyer? i found that when i did mine, it turned out a little more grey and wasn't was white/clear

Thanks for the feedback. It is a real pain in the butt to do and I hope I never have to do it again. It should be worth it though when they are all done.

In all the hardest part is getting all the lines out of the whole light. When they are gone it takes like 45minutes-1 hour to complete.

I will be spraying the chrome just with a black pearl clear coat so that when the lights are on or the right light hits the chrome they will look black. It should be pretty sweet when it is done.

I was also thinking about doing the black pearl clear over all of my badges.

Looks really good. You should post a how to as well.

Jmai22 04-28-03 01:07 AM

so got any tips for me? what did you use? i am still afraid to go back and continue where i left off because it took so dam long. also what scratch remover are you usisng?

TurboSC 04-28-03 01:14 AM

I will type up a DIY when I get some time.

the only tip that I could really give is to make sure that you get ALL the lines out before you start moving up in grit. I started wetsanding at 220 grit then was to lazy to go get 400-600-800-1000 grit so I just moved up to 2000 grit wet sanding for awhile.

I am using Mcguires plastic polish. There is a second step to the process that I going to go buy in the morning.

Hmmmm.. very nice, very nice indeed. I was thinking about doing this but I have a question.
What headlights do you drive around with with the other ones off? Just a big hole? lol
nice website also, Im one of the 1000 hits

Jmai22 04-28-03 01:22 AM

so how many hours would you say it has taken you. i know this thread is old. i did a search and brought it back. i've worked on ONE side for 2 days and barely got any done. its such a pain.

TexSc 04-28-03 01:32 AM

what method did you guys use to get the housing off?
heat gun? or oven?
(man, I gotta start posting more!)
oh yeah, What ever happened to that dremel tool idea? could you get it to work turbo?

BLK13X 04-28-03 06:23 AM

Fwoooooar!

Looks NICE! :eek2: Good work there TurboSC!

TurboSC 04-28-03 09:43 AM

Thanks again guys, I will be typing up a DIY for people that want to tackle this project. I probably have a good 10 hours into that one pictured and it is ALMOST done.

I would highly reccommend people that are going to try this to do it completely by hand. Don't use a dremel as it will not work.. trust me.

And yes I just drive around with no headlights in my car. I don't drive it at night.
