i have a question. When you park parralel to a wall does it follow along the wall straight to the end of the light. or does it point down a little.
Also when you are behind the wheel, is the end of the light path on the ground or is it at the farthest obect. for example, is your cutoffline on the floor??
I haven't done the wall test you asked for, but my guess is the light is aimed at a point on the ground some distance out from the car. But HIDs seem to give out a large diffuse field of bright light. I only notice more focused points on the wall in my garage when I start the car. I then see the HIDs dip down then back up doing their self-leveling test dance - which is very cool.

that is somewhat the answer i was looking for. i was just wondering if they were focused on some point on the ground a distant from the car or if they were aimed straight out. i couldn't think of the words but you wrote the words i wanted to see. thanks
See the thread on the consumer reports report in this forum - it also says that HIDS produce a broad even spread of light, which is different than halogens.
