Default Glare from after-market HID

I am thinking to put a after-market HID kit on my ride, but I heard these kits generates more glare due to the DOT design of the reflector of the halogen headlight. I am afraid I might blind the other drivers. Postings from most people who have upgraded their non-HID RXs with the HID kits say they are very happy with their kits. I'd like to hear the real world stories from you after you have driven with your kits for some time just how bad is the glare. Have you ever been flashed by other drivers?
1. Never
2. Occasionally
3. Frequently
4. Pulled over by cops

Also if your answer is 1 or 2, can you also post where you bought your kits?

Thanks,

I have occasionally been flashed. Then again, no more than the OEM HID's in my parents LS.

I bought my Phillips HID kit at http://www.supremepowerparts.com There has been a group buy on CL from http://www.autolamps-online.com

I would not go without HID now, but if I had to do it all over again I would go with autolamps instead of supremepower. They have a better quality kit.

Thanks Daddy-O, LexRx and Spinteews for your reply.

It appears autolamps or suvlights is the way to go.
It is interesting that even the OEM HID gets flashed.
How is your beam pattern compared to the OEM HID?
Do you get that wide flood of lights?
Are there hot spots?

Beam pattern? Great pattern...a little blotchy due to the reflectors, but hardly noticeable. The fog lights fill in beatifully.

Wide flood of lights? Yep

Hot spots? Minor. Nothing worth discussing

It's a great mod. I bought the 4200K McCulloch kit w/ Philips Bulbs from suvlights.com. A great choice. So bright. So white
