Deal Extreme LED's
Has anyone used these wedge bulbs before?
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13043 I am looking for some pictures of the light output. |
A nice guy from PriusChat.com bought a pair of these and made a video of the output.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLDd0IyDNZ8 Make sure you pick high quality. http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-ma...ed-led-10.html http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-mo...er-leds-2.html I am still on the fence about the bulbs. I would love to use these for the license plate bulbs but I think the extra blue hue might get some unwanted attention from the CA LEO's. If anyone decides to try these please post some pictures. |
These tend to have a narrow beam pattern so use them in a good location where spread isn't that much of an issue.
|
The narrow beam should not be too much of an issue if there is a diffuser. The area that might post a problem is in the license plate lights (on the 2GS anyways).
|
Chrispy bought a pair and will post pics when they come in 2 weeks.
|
usually these bulbs have pretty good light dispersion angles. It's those old school 5mm LEDs that have narrow dispersion. I wouldn't expect a full 90 degree viewing angle though, but definitely better than 45 degrees.
|
Why not just buy from www.superbrightlightsled.com or www.autolumination.com?
|
superbrightled sucks. Their LED's burn out in a couple of months.

My superbrightLEDs didn't burn out...the clear lense broke off :(
it doesn't matter though because their 'white' LEDs are not truely white anyways. I was disappointed when they gave off a hint of blue. I'm going to be retrofitting an insanely bright bulb for the overhead lamp. i just hope the OEM difusser is good enough :D |
The guy from the Prius forum posted another video.
http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-ma...tml#post739635 I would rather have pictures though. The camera distorts the actual light color. |
Sorry for the delay guys. I forgot about this thread.
http://i38.tinypic.com/2m5fi21.jpg This picture shows the real color. http://i36.tinypic.com/2yvw6ms.jpg This picture looks really blue but it shows the dispersion. http://i35.tinypic.com/2zp09cp.jpg This is what I think it looks like in person. |
I actually sell these 194 light bulbs a while back.
I am still using in on my license plate though. I love how it looks. |
Can you still get these bulbs for cheap Nigel?
