clear lights and super whites all around
Hi guys,
Had this posted in another thread, but decided to edit it and repost here so we can have a thread dedicated to super white bulb and clear corner questions. Since they are kind of related and all.
I changed the upper parking bulb on mine to a XENON super white, looks much better. One thing tho, is the fact that the lens is "dusted" and does not allow the super white to shine through as bright and is a bit dimmer. It is still much whiter than stock.
I also replaced my driving/high beams with XENON super whites as well. Looks real sick with the high beams on. But during the day, when the you have running lights on, the lights are not as super white. They are getting less current, and still remain yellowish. I am dissapointed with that. ObiDon, are yours super white during the day as well? I think my bulbs are not drawing enough power. They are super duper white when they are drawing full wattage on high beam mode. But during regular day light running light mode, when they draw less power they are not white. I am using Eurolite Xenons.
I ordered XENON super white 9006's for the fog lamps too. I want the whole front end to be super white, no hint of that yellow stock color (I also have the standard OEM HID's). Yellow is actually better for fog lights, you get better visibility. But a set of real yellow 9006's are 70 dollars are more. For now I will try out the super white 9006's and see how they work. I may just add an auxillary set of yellow fog lights for better fog light visibilty.
I also swapped out all the interior dome lights and door lights to super white. Which includes the front reading light, dome light, trunk light and door lights. Looks nice and much whiter/blue over stock. One thing to note, the manual (mine at least) says the front reading light is a single sided light bulb, it is not. It is a long double ended bulb, similiar to the other dome lights, but longer.
Also..(theres more?!!) I replaced the reverse lights to super white Xenon as well. Very white compared to the stock ones.
I have Another set of 194 super whites on the way for the license lights, since those look yellow compared to the rest of the super white lights all over and in the car.
My clear front bumper lights are on the way from autobacs, and I will likely go the legal route and use amber bulbs. If they fit, I may put them on the rear as well. Only thing is that the rear needs a red bulb, and red bulbs fade too fast. So I may just use a super white, if I get it. Or I will try to
a: fit a small red lens over the bulb
or
b: source a quality red bulb
I also bought an indiglo license plate frame. The frame is really cheap though, and I am going to repaint the frame before I mount it.
One thing I want to also do is replace the inside console light to blue or red. But apparenlty it will be too complex and require soldering LEDS. I think thats a wee bit much for me, but who knows.

I would caution all of those that are using these aftermarket super white (HID) bulbs. Most of these bulbs are of much higher Watts, typically 80-100W. The MFG bulbs I beleive are 50-60W (don't have my manual with me). I had my headlights harness burn out after 4-5 months of use b/c of these higher Watts bulbs. It's common sense, these bulbs will draw extra power/energy thru the wires which are not capable of handling almost double the watts. Fortunately, the dealer was nice enough to replace them. One dealer quoted me $1000 for repair.
Just a word of caution.
Just a word of caution.
