I'd be worried that the headlight would suffer from leakage if it wasn't sealed properly and that the motor/solenoid unit is too big for the headlight back housing.

What do you guys think?
I don't think there's enough room for autoleveling...but I'd love for someone to get it working!

Yeah, the more I look at it the only way that I can see it fitting is if I...
  • Remove the top aiming adjuster and dapt the solenoid fitting from the RX330
  • Remove the paring light make the bracket to span the distance to the parker and replace the parker with a CCFL ring around the projector

Too much effort I think. And I don't think there's enough space for the projector to move up and down

Thanks mate, it was actually indypwr's retro on his old white SC300 that made me want to change my PnP kit to a full retro. Just curious, do your brackets fit only the Audi TT projectors or can the be made to fit any projector?

I think I'm closing in on this whole bracket situation Only way I can see the bracket fitting the projector is if part of the top aim adjustment is slightly tapered in one corner to clear the projector itself... there shouldn't be too much problem doing that? Oh and one of the screws for the ball joints will have to be removed since it comes in waaaaaay too close to the projector mounting hole.

So it's off to get a prototype made up and if all is well then straight to the machine shop to get it cut

^ Hey,

I'm waiting for my brackets to arrive (thanks to Lexus4Jess). It's all paid for and sent but it's taking it's sweet **** time to get to Oz. Does anyone know how long first class mail takes to arrive?

When they arrive I'll be back on to the project, as without that I can't put my retrofit together

Nice work. Should look great!

I think you need sensors on all four wheels for the auto-leveling to work, doesn't seem practical to figure out how all that would work, although I'm sure it could be done if one was determined enough.

Nice work. I misread the title and thought you failed your first retro.

LOL sorry for not updating this thread

Anyway, the retro is only half done, I still have to deline the projector areas on the lenses, and I might sand back on the brackets however they're in and they work fine. I'm running D4S ballasts/bulbs. I've had the retro installed for about a month.

Sorry about the crappy picture quality.

The RX non-AFS projectors are huge... barely fits in the Soarer housings.

The cut off is blurry, I still need to deline the lenses... these next few were shot from about 15m (approx. 50ft) from the wall.

It's my first shot at a retro, but I would recommend doing a proper retrofit over a PnP kit anyday (or should that be night?) of the week.

Cheers

Jose

Wow, very nice cut off you have there -- great job !!

BTW, are you sure the light beam doesn't blind the oncoming vehicle? I'm not sure, but it seems a bit high?

I agree, Even though you are RHD, the drivers side light does seem a tad high. Might wanna drop it a bit.
