Question Yellow Light from Bulb Replacement

I just replaced the Driver's side bulb on my 2001 GS430 (what a job the first time but thanks Forum for the great instructions, pictures and diagrams - I couldn't have done it without them. The dealer wanted $450 for the bulb!)

I was thankful to see the lights go on and the auto-leveling doing its thing but I now notice that the light from the new bulb is much "yellower" than the light from the original still on the passenger side.

I bought an OSRAM D2R 35w ($155 form Drivewire.com) The original is a Phillips D2R 35w.

Is there another specification I should have looked for or would I have needed to buy a Phillips?

Thanks.

Sounds like you bought a brand new 4300k light bulb. They will have that yellow color when you compare it to your other light bulb. You have to wait until the "burn in" period has happened. Then your new light bulb will have color shifted to a whiter/blue color.

Manufacturers sell HID light bulbs in 5000k for just this reason. To match up new light bulbs to ones that are still in use. This way, you don't have to wait for the color shift to happen.
You can drive around with your headlights on until your new light bulb color shifts. Should be about 150 hrs for this to happen.

I hope I answered your question.
