Difference between HID and Xenon

Sorry to bother with what Im sure is a simple answer but I have browsed and searched for a couple days with no avail. Can someone just explain the difference (if any) between HIDS and Xenon?

they are the same thing. high intensity discharge headlamps use xenon gas to create that HID.
