HID Conversion question
Anyone know why some places that sell HID conversions sell with an upgraded wiring harness, some without but still are listed as plug and play. There is a guy on ebay selling McCulloch HID Kit's for $ 215 without wiring harness. Why would you need an upgraded harness if the bulb wattage is less? (typically 35watts)
wow- sounds like sxylxy was burned by someone on eBay. Just for the record - xenondepot.com offers a wiring harness.
dchesanek, HID bulbs require a 23,000 volt spike of power to ignite. Since this is the case, having a wire harness to connect directly to your battery is best since it will not draw that power through your factory electrical system. Having a dedicated wire will also ensure your ballast isn't straining to get the initial power it needs when igniting the bulb.
hope that helps man.

not everything on ebay is bad, just be sure you know every detail about a product before you buy it
if you're gonna go with expensive gear from a trusted site though, dont go to xenondepot...
xtralights.com
that website is the ONLY place with a digital ballast out there, its the smallest, most light weight one with a built in ignitor
did i mention theres a waterproof / weatherproof guarantee on it?
97% beam color accuracy on it as well, that beats out the competition

il stick with the proven phillips bulb+ballast combo, besides, digital control isnt really going to help improve bulb life or brightness by any measurable amount. i mean, a regular low end resistor has most of the time a MAX THC of <5%.
