All the 2GS offered factory HID as an option with the exception of the GS430 which came standard with HID. You're better off either getting the HID headlamps and all the OEM components or getting a retrofit done. The plug and play kit will put out more light but will blind oncoming traffic and the light will not be focused on the road where you want it to be. I've had a plug and play kit in my car for over a year and even though it was better than stock I wasn't satisfied so I'm in the process of doing a retrofit which is almost complete, hopefully by this weekend everything will be put together and on the car.

When you say retorfit, do you mean putting all of the OEM parts back on the GS and if so what parts are needed? I also read somewhere on these forums that if you throw on aftermarket HID's that you may lose your auto-leveling...

A retrofit is when you put OEM projectors in your headlight housings. You would need projectors, ballasts, igniters, bulbs, shrouds, maybe an extra set of headlights, definitely a dremel and some creativity and DIY ability. Oh yea and patience. I don't see why you would lose the auto-leveling if you add an aftermarket kit, but if you have factory HID I don't see why you would add an aftermarket kit, just maybe change the bulbs.

just retrofit the OEM HID headlights and such. The only thing you wont have is auto-leveling. Still, at least you maintain OEM appearance
