Default Factory hid gone bad?

Hopefully two quick questions. I searched the treads for hid gone bad. Found 1 post from a few yrs ago, but just want to ask again. I noticed last night that my passenger side HID is now shining pink and very little light. While I have a bumper to bumper warranty, I also have a $50 deductible. Without seeing my car, any thoughts on whether it is the more likely the ballast, the bulb, both or something different? I hope this next question isn't silly, but this is my first car with HID. Can I go to my local autoparts store and buy a replacement xenon bulb, and is it rather easy or complicated replacing the bulb?

Thx in adavance

It's the bulb in your HID. Mine did the same thing back over a year ago. One went and then the other a few days later. I bought a set of new HID bulbs from a brand new IS300 that someone had upgraded and installed them myself. The dealer will charge you 300-400 to install. I know, I priced it. I had to remove my front bumper to replace the bulbs. Some on here swear they can do it w/o removing the bumper, I couldn't.

yeah very likely it's the hid. if you want to be sure, just swap the two hid bulbs and you know right the way

oh and if you replace, you have to replace both, otherwise the color left and right won't match

Thanks very much to both of you, but unfortunately, 2 more questions arise. First, I have changed my brake bulbs, but there was a warning light on the dash - for my headlight, why no warning light? The other, not sure why I would need to remove my bumper - is it that hard to replace the hid bulbs?

Thx again

i think this is b/c since the lights for the brake were out completely (that little wire was prob. broken inside the bulb), the current cannot go through and therefore, the sensor knows a light is out... it sounds like to me the front hid light still has a current going through it and it cannot yet be detected by by the sensor... i could be wrong though since i am no expert.

the light bulb out warning like is only for the rear bulbs i believe. coz' those are the bulbs you can't see when driving. when your headlight is off i bet you should be able to tell from inside the car so i think that's why.

for the bumper, personally i didn't have to take off the bumper. but it's very very tight to change the hid bulb at the spot coz' the spacing behind the headlights are very tight. if you can't get it done, you can take off the bumper and take off the headlights and change it
