Question 94 LS 400 HID Install

Has anyone done a HID conversion to a '94 LS 400. I just got one and I got a set of Phillips HID's that are supposedly in the 745. Obviously my car doesnt have the projectors, so is there any retro fits out there? I know Illusion Lighting can retrofit a system for me but they cost a pretty penny. I appreciate any and all help.

damn you lol. that's what i wanted to do. oh well, now that the topics out, do it yourself. have somebody clear out your headlight lens for you, OR mold new plastic headlight pieces. then comes the retrofitting. you'll have to make a bracket to fit the projectors into your headlight housing. that's the basic idea. adding hid's is easy.

you'd cut the low beam from your stock headlight connector, and connect it to the ( + ) of the ballast, and the ( - ) you would ground do somewhere on the chassis. the bulb connector just connects to the xenon/hid bulb, which in your case, since you have a 1st gen LS, would be an H4/9003 type bulb. then, find a place to mount the ballst, and you're done! simple as eating cake. hope that helped. i'm hosting a mini meet at life plaza 7/10 around 7pm if you'd like to come. i could show off my new hid's

Thanks for the info, I had the same idea in regards to molding new plastic pieces, just have no clue on how to do it or anyone that does it. As for adding the projectors, I'm totally clueless. I would appreciate a more detailed set of instructions. Thanks, for the invite unfortuantely I'm on the pther side of the coast and wont be able to make it.

Allen, I edited your post because you put "H4/9004" for the headlight application...I changed 9004 to 9003 because he has a '94 LS400. '93-'94 models use H4/9003 and '90-'92s use 9004/HB1.

BTW brotherman, welcome to CL. I'll be moving this to the Lighting forum so that you'll get more responses.

BR1AN oops my bad. thanks for catching my error.

Brotherman your best bet would be to make an adapter plate for the projectors. i believe a GS has created adapter plates for the GS. I will be taking on a retrofitting project as soon as my new right headlight comes and i can order a 5 series projector for test fitting. if you're patient, i'll be able to make the adapter plates as well as find someone to manufacture the clear lens pieces. i'll keep everybody updated as soon as i start.
