Removing Passenger Side Tail on 1st Gen

Question Removing Passenger Side Tail on 1st Gen

I blew a taillamp bulb on the passenger side of my '96 ES. I pulled off the back trunk liner (after breaking two snap rivets ) only to find that pulling the taillamp assembly isn't as easy as the 4 bolts on the driver's side. It looked like, in addition to the 4 bolts, that the trunk lock assembly has to be removed (due to it passing through the taillamp). Is this the case, and if so, how difficult is it to disassemble/reassemble? The last thing I want is a trunk that won't stay shut when I have to take the freeway

Thanks--so the lock cylinder gets removed with the taillamp? Do I somehow disconnect the linkage mechanism to the latch?

Cool, thanks. The light is working again, but once it stops working for good, I'll remember your advice, and won't worry about the trunk lock assembly
