Default ECE worth the upgrade from E39 projectors

i have e39 projectors right now, but one of my headlights got damaged and while in the shop one of the workers accidently threw away my broken headlight thinking it was trashed because it was broken. and even though i explained to the owner many times to keep it. the worker just didn't understand what was on the INSIDE of my headlight. well here is my chance to either buy another e39 projector or replace both with ECE projectors. is it worth it? how much difference will i see between the 2 besides having the ECE having a much further cut off line? will the ECE be wider than the e39?

also what ECE projectors would you all recomend, please be specific on car model.

I have read good things over on hidforum.com about the ECE projectors for the RS6/E55 (supposedly same projector). Not sure if the regular A6 or E-Class (W211 chassis) have the same ECE projectors, since obviously the RS6/E55 are rare cars. Fitment issues are a concern, too; not sure if these projectors are bigger than the E39, or if the GS housings have any extra room for larger projectors. Bi-Xenon projectors will take up a little more room due the solenoid/relay assembly on the outside for the moving shutter. I'm more familiar with the ES (92-96) housings, which are tight on space (E39 projectors are too tight a fit, the smaller E46 projectors must be used).

i'll look into those projectors thanks. yeah the first gen gs headlights are very spacious for retros's here are my current e39. look how much space i have left. i was thinking of doing dual HID's, and putting hid's in my high beam area too, but the high beams would have bi-xenon, so when i drive i would have 4 sets of lights on inside my housing, and when i flash the high beams the inner ones would lift up the shield for the high beams. good idea???

DUDE!!!!! Go ECE ASAP!!! I had those projectors and man they're sweet!! THe violet color on the cuttoff is unbelieveable! I remember when I had to sell them for cash this past November....man was I pissed. I'm going to buy another set ASAP. Although someone has pointed me to Valeos ECE variety. THe size is similar to your E39s.
