Default Another headlight question.

yesterday I tried clearing my headlights while they were on the car.
I used 2000 grit sandpaper wet sanded, then 3M rubbing compound then meguiars plastic polish. It helped a little but not as much as I would have liked.
I am now , next week taking the headlights off, opening them up and everything. I was thinking of doing the blackened housing that has been talked about on here recently. What type of paint would I use ? does it have to be high temp ? does it get that hot in there I do NOT have HID's.
Thats it for now
Thanks
