Video Option High Speed Oval Lap [WET/SLICK]: Lexus LFA vs NISMO Nissan GTR
Footnotes from article:
Initially planned as a dry 1.5 mile oval high speed test run. However, conditions turned out be not favorable for RWD cars with slick and wet track, which is why RWD cars like 370Z and RCF were having stability issues at higher speeds.
Still, 2WD Lexus LFA managed to accelerate faster at higher speeds than the NISMO GTR and closed the gap down significantly to 4 mph.
LFA Max Speed:
GPS: 177 mph
Speedometer: 182 mph
NISMO GTR Max Speed:
GPS: 291 km/h 181 mph
Speedometer: 186 mph
I am sure there is the argument that LFA costs more than twice as much as a NISMO GTR, but still not bad for a 7 year old designed car with a 40 HP deficit going against NISMO GTR that came out in 2015.

I'm not a fan of Nissan GTRs in general, but I gotta give Nissan credit. Despite the platform being around for 9 years, they've continuously improved this monster and it seems to defy physics. Not bad for a car with a 550 lbs disadvantage.
I still hate the way it looks though.

Besides, the wet is where the AWD trumps RWD. In the dry, it would have been a different outcome.

My point really is I personally think Nissan missed the mark with this engine. The old GTRs with the RB26 had soul this new 3.8 there using sounds like a taxi and sounds soul less to me.Those older RB motors sound mint pulling hard at 8000 + rpm put the GTR in my eyes on the map and gives that visceral experience like the LFA's masterpiece does.

Agreed. I absolutely love the old RB26DETT engine in the R34 GTR. Sounded unreal and went up to 8500 rpm especially the modified Smokey Negata Supra with the RB26 engine in it.
Yeah for me I think Ring Edition beats that Nismo GTR regardless and for a fair test the Ring Edition if available would be a truer test.
