More likely, it's a bait-and-switch type tactic where they list a new car and when prospective buyers call, they tell them they only have a used one left.
The bottom line is that if they were serious, they'd list the VIN.

For sure there are many justified reasons for not posting the VIN - but there are also several fake VINs as well, not just listings without VINs. I mentioned the fake VIN issue when someone brought up the autotrader listings in an unrelated Car Chat thread a few weeks ago. I checked the first two listings that had a VIN but no pictures, and both were for known cars and had the wrong colors listed.
It's hard to believe anyone actually and seriously selling a new LFA would fail to post pics or fail to list the right VIN - or even worse, list a fake VIN.
