FS:2003 GS 300 Sport Design - Blk/Saddle: ML, Navi, Low Miles, Upgrades Galore
Well I cannot believe that this day has come, but I need to part with my GS. My life has changed a bit and I'm now commuting 70 miles round trip for work, 5 days a week. I've ordered a 2013 Toyota Rav4 so the only reason I'm letting the GS go is for fuel economy and practicality. I am having a horribly hard time figuring out how I will sell this car, and would feel so much better if it went to a CL member - someone who could really appreciate the car. If I do not receive any bites here, I will move forward with listing it on AutoTrader and Craigslist. Truly, I am a perfectionist, I love this car and have babied it since day one.
At first glance, this car is not as outwardly modified as some others on CL but my whole goal has been creating an "upgraded OEM" look. I think I've succeeded in creating a car that looks more aggressive than stock but is still eye catching and elegant. I've also worked hard to create a great drivers car with engine and suspension modifications that have transformed the demeanor and disposition of the car into something that's very driver-oriented with great steering and handling. I love nothing more then getting this car out into the mountains with the windows down in spring or fall, and I think the next owner will know exactly what I mean. The tire and wheel combination is conservative, as are the drop and other suspension mods, but I think my GS is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable midsize sedans I've ever driven.
I get compliments on this car almost weekly from people on the street, and when I have folks inside the car, nobody can believe the condition of it. I have literally had some people (who didn't know any better) ask me if the car was new, or mention that they "didn't know Lexus was still making this body style."
So here are a few notes to start:
- Bought: July 2008 with 66,000 miles
- Now: 104,200 miles as of 06/09
- Never been wrecked or in an accident of any kind
- The car has been garaged at home and at work for the last 5 years.
- When I bought the car in 2008, it was from a man who had two kids who scratched up the exterior with skate boards, athletic gear and from being generally careless. As a result, I had the car completely repainted in factory OEM "black onyx" paint in 2009.
- I used to work for Lexus corporate and was able to pull a few strings to have the Sport Design headlights replaced under warranty in October 2008. Why? Because I could, quite frankly. We have all seen GSs with headlights that have UV damage and I have always wanted this car to be perfect. I was able to pull a few strings with corporate and had them replaced with completely new units - housings, HIDs, everything.
- I've maintained the car with regular details at least every three months with all of the finest products: Leatherique, P21s, Meguiars, etc.
Major service milestones:
This car has always been dealership serviced and maintained by master technicians. I worked at the Lexus dealership where I have the car serviced so it never went without ANYTHING. The oil has been changed (full synthetic) every 5,000 miles, tires rotated and balanced regularly and all routine maintenance has been executed in full, on schedule.
- Ball joints, tie rods, springs and shocks replaced at 70,000 miles
- Catalytic converters replaced under warranty at 80,000 miles
- Full 90,000 mile service completed in October of 2011
- Four brand new Bridgestone Turanza tires in November of 2012
- Valve cover gaskets replaced in June of 2013
- Little issues common to the 2GS, such as door lock actuators, have all been fixed with new OEM parts
OEM Specs:

Considering the meticulous care I've taken of the car, the way it's been serviced, low mileage, list of modifications and the general condition of the car, I am asking $11,250 OBO. For a well maintained Lexus with a 2JZ, this thing will run for another 200,000 miles with few issues, and look and drive beautifully while doing it.

I've previously flew out to ATL to purchase a car then drove back to Dallas, its not that bad of a drive and was worth every minute. Don't let that stop ya!
