Is the supercharged LS an option or does it comes standard ?
Hmm..good question...didn't think to ask about the IS250 engine....I was momentarily transfixed at the sounds of "IS convertible" and must've blanked out ..lol

It's my understanding that this new SuperLS is a VERY small production for a very select target buyer. So, yes, it will be an option and not standard. Remember this is a few years away...not going to debut so soon.

So IS 250/350 and GS 300? Doesn't make sense. 3 engines? No IS 430?
HPX will be based off the AWD GS. I am sure of this.

I am now lost

I think the IS350 is the IS430 that everyone was hoping for. No V8 4.3 engine in that little bitty car, but a heck of a lot of horsepower. And I was surprised to hear of the IS250 myself...so, yes it'll be a 4 banger and yes, there's going to be 3 different engines.

I'm still unsure of when the HPX is coming..nor have I seen any information on it, but then when you have all these other models....

Thumbs up

2.5L engine =

I like smaller engines.

Even if 50% of this stuff is true, it's gonna rock. I can't wait for Lexus to take over the world.

I'm not really surprised, but I thought those will only be offered in Europe & Asia, like the IS200 is now.

That is what I was thinking. I guess they are going downmarket to attack TSX/1.8/2.0A4/S40 sales with the IS 250?

Goodness, a 25-30k Lexus? They would sell 500,000 a year...

I was surprised because I hadn't heard any whispers of so many IS's...that's 4 total in just the IS lineup alone! Usually I hear rumors and things, but this came as a total surprise.

Supposedly, Lexus is going to try and sell 400,000 units. So, Lexus will one day indeed rule the world!

Didn't Denny Clements say a while back that Lexus would stick to selling cars that were ~30k+ and not go too much downmarket?

I'm guess the IS250 will be around the same price as the current IS300, and the IS350 will be about $35K.

I guess so. I mean, it makes sense to import the IS 200 I guess.
There are many IS 200s/Altezzas. The Euro one has a 2.0 liter I-6. The one in Japan has a high revving 4-cylinder with a 6 speed auto.

Like I said before, I would kill for that 2.0L I6 and 6-speed manual...Not fast, but probably a whole ton of fun!

Found this at IS300.net
I am not sure if you guys have read this or heard about it but I thought it might be newsworthy as I heard it as offical Lexus information. Not spy mag bull****. The new IS is about one year away as a 2006 model. It will have a 2.5l V6 with 265hp and awd. A second engine will be offered, a 3.5l with 300hp, available as a rwd drive only. Lexus is saying they will never get beat by hp again. Also the price on the 265hp car is rumored to be about $30k

I question the validity of a 2.5L V6 with 265HP. Infiniti is using 3.5L to get 260HP, Acura is using 3.2L to get 270HP, and even Lexus is using 3.3L to get 230HP. I know the new V6 is a direct Injection design, but still 265HP is a LOT for a 2.5L engine and I can only imagine how high you'll have to revv to get that 265. Direct Injection allows for high compression, but a 2.5L V6 with 265HP would be more than 100HP per litre...which is more than the realistic limit. The M3 and Celica GT-S are the only two cars that come to mind with 100HP per litre, and this new IS is supposed to have even more? Hmmm...I think not.

I have two problems with this whole thread, 1) being 265HP from 2.5L and 2) being that Lexus plans on using superchargers. I guess forced induction isn't out of the question, but that'd be pretty "un-Lexus like". A 2 door LS with a S/C V8 seems way too good to be true, but we'll see!

I think from the IS we'll see either the 2.5L V6 (210HP) as standard or the 3.0L V-6 (245HP) as standard with (for sure) the 3.5L V6 as the optional V6, an optional 4.3L V8 with 325-340HP, and then a top end IS "GT" with 400+ Hp.

I scrolled through the posts from the link you posted (the IS300.net one) and the same guy who suggested 265HP from 2.5L also said that the SportCross will be dropped, which Clements already said it would not.

I think he's wishing (understandable though).
