Default Jaguar F-Type P450 (savagegeese review)

posting this because it's pretty competitive with the LC.

car has been refreshed, added touch screen (hear that Lexus?), improved suspension, etc.

nice that it comes in several levels of power, and also has awd version.

this review is of a low end version. enjoy.

I prefer the appearance of pre face lifted f type. The 14"-18" models also sound the best. They are great looking and sounding car, just don't look close at the build quality (and reliability). Love mine, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought it so no complains here.

The F type is the car that I would have if the LC were off the agenda. On looks alone I think it is superb but I've had 2 Jags and they can be difficult cars to live with. It always seemed to me Jag were so close to getting it right but need to put more effort into their quality control and stop cheaping out here and there. I must admit when I hear and see these I still wonder about ownership.........

We also have an LC and F-Type. The LC takes the prize for looks, but the F-Type R is more fun to drive. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go F-Type. Between the AWD, the power, and the milage (on road trips we will average 27 - 30 mpg). We have not had any quality / fit & finis issues. Personally, I wish the LC was supercharged. I like the power delivery in the lower RPM's the F-Type has vs the LC having to get up in the RPM's to get into the torque. I know they are different animals and that's the reason we have one of each. But, If anyone is thinking about adding an F-Type, I'd say do it!

Never was aware of all the similarities between the Two. They actually look like Twins even down to the dressing of the interiors. So who's Zoomin who?
What an amazing dilemma to have, choosing between the Two!

i don't think either ripped off the other, but the f-type came out 4-5 years before the LC.

love my LC, and don't think the interior materials/design is as nice in the f-type, but i do think the f-type, especially after this refresh, is great, and the f-type r has the blower for 100hp more than lc (and awd) which is nice too!

both great cars!

Thanks! My secret is no wife, and no kids Seriously though I need to remind my self how fortunate it is to be in the position to own both. Lots of hard work, but also good fortunes.

I'd never touch a JLR product (and that's coming from a Brit).

I test drove an F Type V8. It didn't pop and bang like all the ones I've seen on Youtube. After a bit of invstigation, it turns out that Jaguar turn this feature off during servicing. Why? Simply because it eventually breaks the cats and they end up with a warranty claim!

I'll be the first to admit I am no fan of pop and bang given the very reason you cited, i.e. it can't be good for the exhaust system. I know there will be some who will say otherwise, but to ignite unused fuel in a relatively feeble component (the exhaust system when compared to a cylinder head), is surely asking for trouble. I often wonder whether this does indeed create damage, and perhaps I can be enlightened by those with practical experience?
