Default SC400 Subwoofer Baffle

After much talk, and with all the help I received from reading many threads on these boards, I tackled taking out the rear deck and replacing my subwoofer and rear speakers. First, all the directions on taking apart the back seat, side panels, window trim in order to get to the rear deck was invaluable - to say the least. For future DIY people, please note that taking off only one side is perfect, the rear deck just slides out after.

Now, the HUGE surprise came when removing the subwoofer/baffle assembly. For some reason, I must not have read far enough, I did not know that you could not separate the baffle assembly from the existing subwoofer like you can on the speakers. That was very simple, the new speakers just drop right in the existing baffle and you are done. But, I simply could see no way that you merely drop out the old subwoofer and drop in the 10" replacement. I know many on here talk of their custom wood baffles that work so well, but I did not know this was a MANDATORY step in order to put an aftermarket sub in. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to undertake a new baffle, even though simple - as I need my car shortly.

Did I miss something on the subwoofer assembly ?? Also, the factory subwoofer is a 5 ohm, not 4. Odd, never heard of a 5 ohm sub before.

Oh well, no big deal. The new rear speakers are a definite improvement over the old ones (1 was blown anyway), so it was not like a wasted effort.

Great job everyone on the directions to get to the rear deck, I appreciate it.
