hi im installing a 500W rockford fosgate 500x amp to power my mids....
i installed the amp and all but there is no power going to the amp (the power LED does not come on)..
when i turn on my HU, all i hear is the middle sub from the interior..
i checked all the fuses and all the wiring seems ok... the amp has been tested and it works... anyone have any ideas??

Check your remote turn on wire. It should be the same wire as the one that goes to the power antenna. It should read 12V when the stereo is on and ground otherwise.

 

Its most likely the remote turn on as ginessgold is mentioning above. To make sure..make a jumper and put power directly to the remote input. If the amp turns on, you have found the problem. BTW...if you're remote output from your radio is turning on too many devices, you may have to go with a relay instead.

 

Another source for the remote turn on lead is the 12v receptacle in the hatch area as this is also turned on only when the key is on run or on the accessory position.
