Question Electronics question

I'm looking at some different SC400s that have had their odometers rolled back. I'm assuming that the odo is kept in the ECU or similar electronic component. Does anyone know where it's kept so I can track down that component and see if it's been swapped out with a newer or different unit?

Does anyone know how these jokers roll back the odos? I'd think that maybe Lexus would keep the electronic mileage in a couple places inside the car as to deter tampering.

Thanks...

I am curious why you are so concern about this and who's going to let you look at their odometer to check this out. As ONELASTTRY stated, you won't be able to tell.

Hmmm, I can probably tell if the ECU or other electronics have been removed and replaced. Pretty hard to hide bolts & nuts that have had wrenches on them.

So, does anyone know where the mileage is kept on these cars?

OUTSIDE of the car....

Lexus dealers record mileage each time they do service, you can request nicely in your service dept and they should tell you the mileage / review mileage entries on the car if it was serviced there.

Most states record mileage at time of sale. If the car has changed hands several times you should be able to see the normal progression (or change) in mileage.

It's in the dash. i can take your dash apart 200 times and replace every single part in it and you can't tell. the phillips heads are stainless steel and leave no marks.
