All,

My folks just both picked up new 2018 Lexuses (does this community have a plurality preference?). ES and IS respectively. Please excuse me if I get the feature names wrong:

The ES has Park Assist (the thing that uses radar to beep before you hit things). The IS does not and dealer says it doesn't come with it anymore. My mother has the IS and *absolutely* needs this feature, or I'll be doing body work soon . I am adding some after market detectors to handle this.

The dealer told me that both the ES and the IS have automatic breaking which deprecated the Park Assist (I don't necessarily agree with that but I digress). The dealer also stated that Automatic Breaking does not engage without cruise control being turned on. Is this true? If so, is it possible to default the cruise control to 'on' despite engaging it?
