Anyone do a LED flasher like the BMW rear view mirrors?
Hey guys,
I just have my stock alarm which when set, causes the little red bulb to blink. The problem is that it is so small and not noticeable. I just want people to know that I have an alarm.
A family friend has a BMW which has the flashing red where the rear view mirror is.
Has anyone tried making the red light blink where the rearview mirror is?
You could splice into the power for the stock LED, run the wire up the A-pillar and across the headliner. The first-Gen GS's don't have an auto-dim mirror, so there's no wire guide between the headliner and mirror to hide the wire. Also, a conventional prismatic mirror is thin, so it'd be hard to mount the LED. I had also considered at one time modding my stock alarm LED to a brighter gallium nitrate LED, such as blue, as well. I remember there was a guy who posted a DIY on how to upgrade the alarm LED on the 2nd Gen GS, perhaps that procedure would work on the first-Gen.
