Does anyone happen to know if the stock stereo on a 99 LX 470 has a "RDS" (radio data system)?
I do not even know what this is...but my local hifi guys need to know before we order some parts. Worse case...I can take the car in to have the radio pulled for them to check....thought maybe someone would know the answer to save me the step. Thanks in advance for any help.

the radio was designed by fujitsuten in 1996 and did not have rds. 2000 models were the first rds on toyota products and they were made by delco for toyota. your 6 disc indash cd changer was fujitsus first attempt at indash changer and there are reports of lots of problems with the mechanism jamming o especially trying to play cdrs.the is300 radio 6 disc was fujitsus next attmept and not much improved
