Bit,

How long did it take you to receive the kit? Did you get a confirmation email within 24 hours of order like it says on the website?

I ordered the kit ($86.50) last week and have not received any email from the company. Already sent an email but still no reply.

I just recieved my kit yesterday via priority mail. I got an email confirmation about 1-2 days after placing my order. I know the guy was getting married....and the timing of this post, extra orders probably backed him up

I will post of up reviews when I get it installed.

Same experience here. I got a confirmation email after four or five days and then nothing. I sent him an email this week asking about the tracking number and no reply from him. Hopefully Mike will get around to taking care of our orders soon.

Just received my kit yesterday and I placed my order on 6/25. I'm sure he's getting a lot of business from this thread. I know of atleast 3 local CL members that are waiting for my results, to help decide if they will place an order.

He told me he was getting married this past weekend too.

I guess the Honeymoon is over !

The quality of the solder joints is excellent. I've seen many car audio shops that didn't do this good a termination job. I could have made these wires myself, but the price he's charging is reasonable, so it's not worth my time to save a few of bucks.

LXOGOOD,
I ordered the slver wire and it was Stinger brand HPM series wire. I'm sure Gilbert or other audio gurus can tell you if that wire holds up long term and if it yellows.

RMMGS4: I thought the wires looked similar to the Stinger wire. That is the same wire I'm using for my audio setup. But looking at BIT's pictures, some of the wires seem to be very close to the engine block. I guess only time will tell how long the wires will hold up under heat. I think I'm going to purchase this kit anyway....BTW: great job on your car...

Mcgong: Thanks for the compliments..... My new audio setup is something I don't think I ever want to be involved with again... There were many restless nights and a lot of stress trying to design/build/wire up this system. During the last month of install, Gilbert worked on my car 14 hours a day minus 4 hours a day for eating..

Default What's your impression?

Now that you guys have had the ground kits installed for a while, what is your impression? Have you noticed any improvement that you can attributed to the ground kit and not just the ecu reset? If this kit reduces acceleration stumble from a dead stop at idle or increased throttle response, I would be interested in purchasing the kit.

Thanks

I just visited Paul @ Teck (www.teckkits.com) this weekend and he custom installed the kit for my '02 GS300. We specifically met so that he could measure and size the kit for the GS300 crowd. The kit for 98+ GS300 should be available now to any/all interested parties.

As an alternative, TMEngineering also has a "kit" for the GS300. Todd built one for me about a month ago and should have the mesurements for a GS300. I have heard that the Teck kit is great and I am not knocking it. I considered it myself. I just wanted to offer an alternative to CL members, expecially to SoCal members who are in the vicinity of his shop.

I have had a chance to talk to Paul on a few occasions and I would put him down as a personal recommendation without a single doubt. He cares about his customers. Todd is also great to deal with.

I don't understand why you did this? Was it for the sound system?.........Maybe I'am dumb or just missing something !........From the pictures I don't see any different battery post, which is the weakest like on a stock system.........As for making you car run and shift better this has nothing to do with it....you were right when to said the ECU's reset , but that's because the bat was unhooked.........your car ECU's adjust to your driving habits.......If you drive it hard it will shift hard..........I hope I don't sound like a smart a$$ ....Maybe I missed your point.................I tried some high dollar cleanroom ox. free cables on my home theater and can not see or here any difference............But I hope it does what you want.

You know, when I first heard about this mod, I was pretty skeptical too. I attributed it to the ECU reset when the battery ground is removed. But when more members (those I know personally and those whose opinions I respect on CL) come back with positive feedback, even over time, I thought I'd try it. the car felt great at first and again, I said ECU reset. It is approaching a month now and the car still drives/shifts smoother than it ever did. Now, I do not religiously reset the ECU like some members but I have done it before. The end results were not as positive as this.

At the time, I wanted to put on a mod so I chose this relatively inexpensive one. I did not have high hopes because of my skepticism but I was/am pleasantly surprised. You can call it wishful thinking. Maybe it is but I don't think so. In any case, I still don't regret doing this mod.

In terms of feel, it is similar to the L-Tuned ECU. Some people notice a big difference and some did not think it was worth it.

This is also a big point of debate for many and it depends on your other components and on your listening pickiness. I tested cheap cables, monster OMC 12 gauge, bi-wire audioquest, and synergistic alpha cables in my system and heard differences with each. No science here, just my hearing. Maybe like the ground kit, it is wishful thinking. Still, I hear it, it is in my home, so that is the only validation I need.

BTW, I did not think you sounded like a smart ***. I thought the same thing too before trying the ground kit. You may try it and don't notice anything. Who knows? These esoteric mods are so subjective.

At the end of the day, this is a very inexpensive mod. I can also understand the skepticism and the various arguments for & against. I drive my car very hard (mostly street driving) and have noticed an immediate change in the shifting. It definitely shifts smoother and quicker now...no real hesitation like I felt before. That is MY experience...you may want to purchase this kit to ground your home surround sound system...who knows?

Anyone can argue the BS around purchasing different mods for the car (classic example is the exhaust system, which may give you 1-2 HP and lot's of sound for a $500 - 1000 mod on a stock engine), but at the end of the day it comes down to the experiences of the various members on this board that help the other members decide for themselves if it is worth it or not.

As for me, I'm happy with it.

I make no claims other than the car runs at least as good as before and the engine bay looks much nicer. So count me in as happy with the upgrade, too.
