2007 GPS "Freezes" GPS "Freezes"
When it's ~50 degrees outside (or colder), the directions function on my 2007 RX400h GPS won't work. When I go to put the address in, the section of country area on the display goes blank. Then, a message comes on the screen that says theres no location data for that area. You can't add the country section back. If it was a previous address, I can select it from the history & it always works fine. The map always tracks me fine. Sometimes, after 20-30 mins of driving it will begin to work but, only if it's close to 50-never when its colder. The service dept has no idea what it is. But... says for $1100 they'll replace a chip board & that "should" do it.

Electronics tend to work better when cold so I would be surprised if it's a control board. I'd be more inclined to believe it's the GPS drive mounted down where the jack is that is malfunctioning. It may be a condensation issue or perhaps the grease on the worm gears that control the head getting too thick at low temperature. It works after a while because the interior of the vehicle warms up... without physically checking the vehicle out that would be my guess.
