changed tweets in gs
You'll have to open up the entire door panel first to get at the wiring harness for the tweeter. Tweeter grille is easy, it just slides off (direction towards the rear of the car). There is a small mounting bar that you can remove with a 10mm socket.
What tweeter were you planning on installing?

Many of us have mounted the Dynaudio MD100 in that spot. It's one of the best tweeters you'll find anywhere. You can fit many good tweeters (3/4" or 1") in there, with the exception of some of the huge beasty ones. Just don't assume that you'll be able to re-use the mounting bracket of the stock tweet, it allows only a relatively short depth and any mismatch will result in the dome hitting the grille - distortion city.. You can make new brackets, however, out of sheet metal, etc. that will be sufficient to hold a tweeter in place. Job relatively not difficult once you get whole door panel off.
Realise that you can't just "throw" an aftermarket tweeter into the factory spot without crossover adjustments. Resistance/impedence is a pretty big factor. There's a good chance that the stock tweeter is a low impedence driver (2 ohm? Not sure). Now let's say the highpass xover was designed to rolloff around 3khz. Putting, say, and 8ohm tweeter (many DIY tweets are) on the same xover will cause the speaker to rolloff a full 2 octaves lower than would the stock tweeter (750hz). I don't know of any small tweeters than can handle said frequencies at a high volume. Even if you were to replace it with a larger tweeter (say, Percy's loveslave, the Scanspeak Revelator) you're going to get imaging/cancellation issues with the tweeter and midbass playing the same frequencies. Even if you matched the RESISTANCE of your new tweeter to that of the stock tweeter, the IMPEDENCE will still differ throughout the frequency range. Not ideal.
But it appears others here are doing it and if they enjoy the sound, maybe you will as well. Just giving you a brief edumacation on what you're about to do.

Gary,
My favorite tweeter is the Dynaudio T330D or MD330D. Fs of 750hz and it sounds awesome. The MD100 will do about 60 percent of what the 330 can do.
As for the revelator...good stuff also.
