is there a way to make the GPS come on more frequent to make the car get back "on line" faster ?

today I drove for a good hour before the nev caught up to where I was by the GPS resetting where I was...

You have to go into the calibration mode and basically tell the unit exactly where you are. From then on the GPS and gyros will track where you are.
