I have a 92 sc300 and I bought a avic-n3 player. Do I need a kit to install it. Any help would be awesome.

 

Dash mount kit is available from Metra

I found the dash kit off eBay with ease, but having a problem with the metra harness kit. 70-1761. I seen a couple on eBay but they say for Toyota 87-up. Will that still work for my avic-m3

 

There is a thread here (stickied I think) that details how to use the Metra double-din panel and make it stronger and how to wire up an aftermarket stereo to the factory speakers, amplifier and subwoofer. The original poster made it a big point to dissuade anyone from using the Metra stereo adapter harness because he felt it didn't work. I wondered if de-pinning and re-pinning according to an SC schematic diagram might clear up the problem but I have no experience with that.

I thought I had the Metra SC300/400 harness but apparently I bought a different one:



I haven't bought a stereo to try it with yet.

From what a friend. Told me, I didn't need a harness. Kit just a dash kit. He said I could just use my stock harness and everything should be fine
