I have a stock premium sound system in my 1993 SC300, its a 5sp btw , that i just bought off my brother. It has the tape deck. He said when he had someone work on the tail lights thats when the stereo stopped working. I've checked and replaced the fuses both under the hood and in the kick panel inside. The radio still doesnt power on. I believe it works still but there may be a wiring issue. Also the power antenna isnt completely hooked up. Its grounded and has a constant hooked up but no remote wire or whatever one that makes it go up or down. I want to keep the stock radio in there to keep it OEM. Any suggestions or do i need to replace the head unit?

 

You need to check the ground and recheck the fuses. If OK, then pull the head unit and see if wires are unplugged or improperly soldered, etc. If ok ,then unplug the taillights and see if your problem goes away. Report back your findings.

 

i have some new information for you, the taillights are aftermarket and supposedly they have an aftermarket brain box. the wiring harness for the antenna motor was cut into and some of the old wires are no longer being used from that harness. do you know where i can get a wiring diagram for that harness? i may be pulling the deck out later today to take a look at that. but i just noticed a huge coolant leak coming from the npple on the bottom of the water pump so it may have to wait.
