I'm planning to add 2 12" subs and change out the 4 door speakers to my car. What kind of amplifier should I get? A 2 channel amp for both subs and speakers or will I get better sound purchasing a monoblock and a 4 channel amp?

What would happen with the factory 8" sub? Would that just get disconnected from the system?

Not too familiar with car audio but just want to get the best sound possible, thanks.

 

The only way to make that work properly is a very complex passive crossover network.

That is the easiest to set up and the one that will work most efficiently. Better sound? There are way too many variables to make a statement like that.

In my ES-350, it is still connected but it does not move at all. I replaced my head unit and high pass my signal at 80hz going to the factory amp. There is no bass going to the factory amp so the sub does not have anything to do.
