Default massive system on ML

i have a 2007 GS350 with ML
would i be able to run a 2 12 inch subs with just a hi/lo converter ? someone mentioned the head unit doesnt produce enough watts like a aftermarket head unit since there isnt a "sub" output to push it. sorry for a noob quesiton just trying to get advice before i get it all. thanks/.

look more for a trunk loc (line out converter) which includes a low voltage trigger to turn the amp on..then tie it into the front full range signal.. then just use the low pass crossover in the amp to power the sub

I had an amp and sub integrated into my ML with an Audio Control LC2i. Used the factory sub output and made it the input to the LOC. works great.
