Percy or Mean Gene, question for you guys
If anyone can help me out with this I would appreciate it. I am getting a great deal of interference in my new multi amp system(not alternator whine). I know the stereo shop that installed the system caught the signal for the PAC adapters after the factory amp, which seems strange to me. Can the signal for the PAC adapters be caught before the factory amp, and if so, do you think this is why or where the interference is being picked up?
Any help would be much appreciated

I'm not Percy, and rarely mean. But here goes.
The GS factory system puts out TWO sets of signals, one from the stereo and one from the changer. It is difficult to get the amp a clean signal before the amp.
I would describe the interference more if it is not alternator whine...then what is it. It may be straight distortion from the factory amplifier. The last alternative is to crack the factory amplifier open to trace the preout right before it goes into the power end of the amp.

Its definitely not alternator whine. It comes and goes from front to rear speakers. Its usually a staticy hissing sound that goes from bearable to unbearable at will, really no pattern of behavior. There is a thick factory harness that goes down the passenger side of the car(this also carries the nav wires within it), the speaker and rca cables seemed as though they were picking up interference from this harness, it would get louder and softer by holding the wires close to the harness and taking them away. We moved the wires as far away from the harness as possible, and also wrapped the factory harness with sheilding tape. This seemed to control the problem for the most part for a few days, now the noise is back. IM not sure what to do at this point. Im way to invested in this project for the system to not sound close to perfect. I was thinking f changing the PAC adapters out, but I have always had good luck using them in the past, so IM not sure if that would help out at all. ANY advice on this would be helpful. Thanks
Percy, Yes the noise occurs without the car being started(both on and off). Running the car has no affect on the noise at all. The noise is steady most of the time, but sometimes when the amps first turn on the speakers make a swooping sound, like an airplane taking off, obviously thats an exageration, but the noise is hard to explain in words.
Yesterday when installing the motors to my EDFC in the trunk, the subwoofer started pulsating, and the speakers started to make noise briefly, and this was with the car turned completely off, no key in the ignition, no electronics on, nothing!! I had the sub box (which also has the sub amp on it) pulled back to get to the shock towers. When I pushed it back an inch or so, the noise went away. I used to manage a stereo shop back in the day, so Im by no means a novice when it comes to this stuff, but this is the strangest circumstances I have ever came acrossed. Engine noise is one thing, but interference with the car not running, or turned completely off, this has me stumped!

WOW... that is strange.
Here is my poke at it.
You need to troubleshoot by isolating the problem. If it is a 12v + - issue on the side of the new system...then you need to find a better ground etc. To troubleshoot that, I pull out the spare set of 4ga and park a friends car near the trunk. Wire up his electrical to run your amps. If that fixes it then that is your problem.
However, if the problem exists in the signal portion...then that is another issue. Take a boom box and plug the headphone jack to a rca splitter to the source inputs of your amps. Drive the car around and check for the same issues. If that is the problem...then you need to buy better speaker-level adapters than the PACs or you need to crack the amp open and tap the signals directly.
Lastly, if neither situation helps...especially because of the amp turn on airplane taking off.. Try and connect your remote amp turn on directly to the 12+ for testing and see if that is the source.
All in all. One of those three are obviously the issue. The last possibility is that the speaker wires you are using are shorted somewhere under the interior. That should be tested with a continuity meter or OHM meter.
Good Luck.
