Adding an AUX input to 95 ES 300
Hello,
I just bought a 1995 ES 300 that's in pretty good condition. I think the CD player in the trunk works, but I want to wire a 1/4" RCA input (or ipod connector, etc).
Based on this tutorial aux input to OEM stereo and this wiring info it should be pretty straight forward, I don't care about the CD so I just need to re-direct the CD out lines to my cable.
I have a few questions hoping you guys had some input:
1) Good tutorial on removing the ES 300 OEM stereo face plate. I'm handy w/ electronics/tools but never modified a car before.
2) The wiring info says there's a "Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire". What's this and when does it get 'switched' on? Perhaps I can use this to charge the ipod.
3) It says the Stereo amp is located right of the glove box. I don't care about this right? Since there's a CD button on the stereo it means the CD signal passes through the signal.
4) How do I know what the CD input cables are? The wiring info doesn't mention it.
thanks!
L

the car radio accessory switched 12+ wire shows 12volts when the ignition switch is turned on an ground when its off... yes u can use it to charge ur ipod..
u'll still need the the factory amp thats how u feed the ipod signal into the oem system..you'll wind up pressing the cd button to get that as an audio source then the extra switch is used to toggle between ipod an cd

FYI Plan is to tap into the Teal, Purple, Green and Blue wires. My CD player is bunk so I don't need to make a switch just cut and tap.
See the attached diagram. I will report back once it's done!
